Tomorrow ~ Immigration Vigil at State Capitol

The West Virginia Council of Churches and the WV Citizen Action Group will join a coalition to hold an Immigration Vigil on Tuesday, August 10, at 12:30 p.m. at the Capitol Circle on the north side of the Capitol near the State Capitol bell.  The vigil will lift up the immigrant population in prayer and our nation as a whole as we face decisions concerning immigration in the near future. Rev. Dennis Sparks, Executive Director of the West Virginia Council of Churches noted that “Care for the immigrant or sojourner has deep roots in the Biblical tradition.”

From Our Friends at Fairness West Virginia ~ Please Come To A Rally Noon on Wednesday to Support All West Virginia Families!

Join us next Wednesday, August 11th, at 12 p.m. at the Living AIDS Memorial Garden just down the street from the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) rally at the Capitol. We're holding a rally for all families-gay, straight, single, married, and everyone else. We'll be serving food and drinks. We believe a positive message about our diverse families is the best way to send the NOM people off to their next stop.

We need to show these out-of-state folks that West Virginians value all families regardless of whether they are headed by a single dad, two moms or a grandparent.

Check out this Charleston Gazette story on what the California Prop 8 decision means--and doesn't mean--for West Virginia.
