House Vote On Coal Truck Weight Amendment
July 17,2002

The 48-47 roll call Wednesday by which the state House of Delegates passed an amendment by Delegate Mike Caputo, D-Marion, to limit the amount of weight a coal truck can carry to the existing standard of 80,000 pounds.
Gov. Bob Wise had introduced legislation to increase the weight to 120,000 pounds on some southern West Virginia coal roads.
A "yes'' vote was to pass Caputo's amendment. A "no'' vote was to defeat the amendment.
Voting yes were 36 Democrats and 12 Republicans.
Voting no were 35 Democrats and 12 Republicans.
Four Democrats and one Republican did not vote.
