Statements show Warner has raised less than $200,000 in funds
By The Associated Press
Republican gubernatorial candidate Monty Warner has received less
than $200,000 in campaign contributions since the May primary
election, according to a financial statement filed with the
Secretary of State's office.
Warner received $121,144 in contributions and another $49,105
from fund-raising events for a total of $170,219, according to the
filing posted Monday. Warner also took out $30,093 in loans and
received $3,167 in non-cash contributions during the period, the
filing said.
The contributions fell short of an estimate of about $250,000
made by the campaign earlier this month.
Warner cleared the primary with $22,744 left. He had $8,818 in
cash remaining on Friday, and $312,873 in outstanding debts.
The campaign has spent $214,268 since the primary, including
$6,984 in loan repayments. Larger expenditures included:
$7,744 for media costs on July 23.
$2,000 for bumper stickers on July 24.
$7,642 for printing on Aug. 5.
$3,520 for a media buy on Aug. 26.
Warner's Democratic opponent, Secretary of State Joe Manchin,
came out of the primary with $419,000 on hand, and his campaign
estimates it has raised about $1 million since then.
Manchin's campaign finance report was not yet available on the
Secretary of State's Web site Monday night.
Reports for the filing period needed to be postmarked by midnight
Friday.
Candidates will file one more round of campaign finance reports
before the Nov. 2 election.
