Group launches straw poll Web site
WV Patriots for Peace and the West Virginia Citizens Action Group launched a
Web site Sunday where state residents can "vote" on Super Tuesday.
The Web site, www.votewv.net, will allow people to pick their nominee for
president in a non-partisan straw poll.
"We are going to have our own Super Tuesday," said Rev. Jim Lewis of West
Virginia Patriots for Peace. "Now, West Virginia will get excited ... about the
presidential election."
Early voting began at 3 p.m. Sunday and will end at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 5 - "Super
Tuesday."
West Virginia's official primary is on May 13, which makes many voters feel
almost left out, Lewis said.
"We want to give them a feeling of participation by conducting this straw poll,"
he said. "It's time to make our voices heard in a primary process that has left
us out."
Results and voters comments will be posted at 8 p.m. on Feb 5 and will be sent
to the presidential candidates.
